Additional In Ghost Colours Information

Cut copy are set to return in 2008 with the shimmering timelessness of 'in ghost colours'. Haunted with machines of the past and sounds of the future, 'in ghost colours' inhabits the kind of space in time where trends are irrelevant and music is about feeling rather than following and 1969 is just as relevant as 2020. At once both jacking and jangly, electronic and organic, cut copy have crafted a record filled with glorious sounds and moods but also unabashedly pop song structures and hooks and melodies for eons. The progression from 'bright like neon love' to 'in ghost colours' is brazenly apparent from opening track 'feel the love', an acoustic guitar led stomp of a space rock tune, instantly unforgettable and with recognizable cut copy sheen. Where 'bright like neon love' was charmingly vague and hazy, 'in ghost colours' is to the point and efficient in it's songcraft, with vocals much more apparent and whitford's imprint all over every track. The record is sewn together with passages of woozy dreamscapes between the straight out jams.

What Customers Say About In Ghost Colours:

Cut Copy have definitely roared back with an even bigger sound than in their debut album fours years ago. The beats are heavier, the guitars are louder, and the vocals are more layered. This all makes for a great listen throughout the whole record. If you love new wave this is a must have.

This album was my introduction to Cut Copy and it was a great one. This album (although I first heard it in 09) has taken its place in my top 2008 albums. CC clearly echoes some of the 80's biggest hits (Depeche Mode, The Cure), but that's not a problem with me as they've managed to update the sound and make it uniquely their own. My favorite tracks off the album are "Lights & Music", "Hearts on Fire", and "Far Away." If you don't want to get up and dance when you hear these songs you're out of your mind. I highly recommend this to anyone. How about that.

I have probably listened to it a hundred times over the last year and am still not tired of it. This was a great sophomore "Empire Strikes Back" level release. It contained all of the catchy melodies of the first, but produced at a much higher level, which in this case was not a bad thing. Now hopefully they can spit out a new one in less time than it took for this one to be released. new york city divorce

The instrumentation however, is completely contemporary, dance rock with heavy synth influences. Having lived through the 60's, listening to this CD makes me a big nostalgic. I bought this CD after I heard the track "Feel the Love" used on a TV phone commercial. In some places, the vocals are reminiscent of 60's groups like Peter & Gordon. At other times, it's the 80's with Ultravox or Visage. Thankfully, the rest of the CD is just as good (or better). I'm looking forward to more from these up and coming artists.

In Ghost Colours is a fantastic album. I was turned on to Cut Copy in November of 2008, and have been mad about them since. I was fortunate enough to see them in NYC in March of 2009, and they were amazing. It is literally equivalent to listening to several genres at one time, Dance, Electronic, Modern Rock, Post Punk, and Pop. From the subtle saxophone in the background of the second chorus of Hearts on Fire that is reminiscent of The Church - Under The Milky Way Tonight, to the trance like intro to Strangers in The Wind, you will be immersed in polyphonic delight.
